I've always admired the fact that hockey players can beat hell out of each other for three periods and then shake hands and show each other some respect at the post match ceremonies. I have been impressed this year by the number of times that opposition teams have stayed to see the Steelers MOM presented before leaving in a sporting and dignified way. A number of times the sportsmanship of some of the individual opposition players, who I've joined in booing during the game, has really taken the wind out of my sails when skating round the whole Arena clapping the crowd and showing mutual respect. I was really disappointed that Nottingham took their MOM award and AGAIN skated off like a bunch of spoilt kids. I suppose that we were lucky that things didn't degenerate in the same way that they did when Nottingham were in Belfast last week. It just seems to be a case of class v no class! How about presenting their MOM award second next time so that they have to linger a little longer? |

but respect has to be earned. Denis Maxwell after all his shenanigans in the Knights game gave a good skate around and clap to the home fans. But it seems a common occurance against the Panthers. I even remember them skating off before picking up their own MOM, led by Graham Garden. Very encouraging for the sponsors who present the award. |

Big Denis will not be skating around tonight, according to Iceweb he was ejected early in the first period for an 'OTHER' penalty. |

.....Scott Alison start to skate round the rink, notice his team-mates skating off and follower them instead. Then change his mind again skate over and acknowledge the crowd on the Penalty box side.
I'm not a big fan of Scott's but to me that showed class, especially after the stick he took all night. |

I thought that I saw Ally linger like you describe, Stewart. I'm glad that I was not mistaken. It would certainly have been difficult for him to have stayed any longer given the poor sportsmanship of the rest of his team. It must be difficult for them to take being beaten so comprehensively by a team without several leading players and with several others clearly unfit. In fairness Nottingham were missing Big Barry and his "creative" skills! |
