Here's two incidents to compare from the past week or so.
Incident 1
Bees ask the ISL to look at an incident in the game against Belfast in which Sorochan tried to decapitate Hurley. The ISL issue a 2 game ban, but then also ban Hurley because the spot that in the fight that followed, he accidentally caught Cloutman in the visor. Belfast had asked for no supplementary discipline for this and they say that Cloutman, having accepted Hurleys apology, did not report the incident.
Incident 2
Panthers playing one of their friendly encounters with Steelers. Having been thrown out for fighting, both Timo Willman and Dion Darling are alleged to have made obscene gestures to the crowd. According to the Nottingham Evening Post, "League disciplinary chief Frank Dempster admitted receiving complaints from Supporters about Willman and Darling gesturing to the crowd, but says he didn't even look at the incident on video tape as he hadn't had official notification from the match officials or from Panthers."
Basically, the upshot is that in neither case was a complaint made by the opponents, nor were the incidents reported by the referee, but only in Sheffield case did that mean that the committee could not look at the incident and take action. This meant that going into last nights crunch game, Bees were missing a player and Steelers had two players playing, who could have been missing if treated the same.
Does that p!$$ me of??? Too damn right it does!
If I were Martin Weddell, I'd be calling Dempster to ask for an explanation. I'd also want Hurleys suspension lifted and last nights game replayed.
