Before there was Odyssey the cat, there was
VIN the cat, and his provider was part-time station handyman (and wife of traffic manager Helen) Wally Schweizer. Vin used up most of his 9 lives crossing route 202, but was a fixture at the station back around 1979-80.
Vin would also deliver his trophies (mice) to the station lobby, and his mere presence in the building made station owner Betty Ramey nuts. Kind of amusing to watch sometimes as Wally tried to get Vin out of the building before Betty's arrival at 10 AM.

And I remember Vin sending away for (and receiving via U.S. Mail at the station--addressed to "Vin the Cat") a kitty toilet-training contraption. The plan was to rig it up to the executive john. But that's another story.
Ah, the good old days.
