I moved from Rockland in 1978, at the age of 11. One of the things I remember from back then, was listening to WRKL every morning, while eating breakfast before school...and, of course, listening for school closings.
We used to drive by the WRKL building every now and then, and I was very sad to learn that the station is no longer what I remember. I remember the station as a big part of the community, and I remember all those mornings I listened, and the daily morning humor that made the mornings more fun.
People who live in a community, and take stations like WRKL for granted, don't know what they stand to lose, until it's too late. WRKL is gone...perhaps not for good, I will keep a good thought, but the memories live.
Thanks to all the alumni from a very grateful listener.
