I was ready to enter my senior year of high school when WRKL can on air as a daytime only station, and the last program of the day was a 'trivia' contest. I won 2 doz ears of corn and a 3-legged milk stool.
I had a lot of fun listening to the station, and remember a short 'Christmas in July' event that started when a newsman walked out of the closet/newsroom/library after the DJ was writing backwards on the window. He left with ...will have the weather after this announcement.
Went to commercial, then he walked out and didn't leave any weather info befind for the DJ, who made up his own.
I especially liked the (tuba) serenade used then when the station signed off-air.
Great times.
