Last November I returned to Spring Valley environs for the first time in years to attend an event just over the border in Park Ridge. As I got past the last toll barrier on the Garden State Pkwy, I tried to tune in some Rockland news on 910 AM but some type of foreign language came across. I shut off the radio, driving in silence to my destination, never quite learning about the local environs.
