Response to Re: Kiurikean Lori

I don't know how and when they received the title of king, but I thought they had assumed it immediately after receiving Lori as an apanage from Ashot III

Lori was their capital, Tashir is the name of the district in which Lori was located.

As to their ending, the last two brothers, son of Kiurike the first, being under pressure from the expanding Georgian kingdom, left Lori and moved to the fortresses of Matsnaberd and Tavush, I cannot remember if this was in 1113 or in 1118. They lost Tavush pretty fast, but kept Matsnaberd (and Norberd) for at least two centuries.

In the eighteenth century, the family of the meliks of Barsum, located not very far from Matsnaberd, claimed that they were the descendents of the Kiurikians of Lori.

If you had read the Armenian Encyclopedia article, you would not be asking all these questions...
