Armenian minister of culture sends in his resignation
On January 5, after a session of the Orinats Erkir Party Council,
Armenian Minister of Culture Hovik Hoveyan sent in his resignation, reports a REGNUM correspondent in Yerevan.
Hovik Hoveyan noted he did not want to give rise to speculations
about the Orinats Erkir Party, as well as about his colleagues in the
Armenian government. `They are already trying to disseminate rumors
about my person and the party, to which I am a member,' he said.
Earlier, Armenian Minister of Culture Hovik Hoveyan, together with
his son broke into the building of the `South' branch of CJSC
`Armenian power distribution networks', drew a pistol on the
electricians working there and struck some of them on the head with
the pistol grip, a REGNUM correspondent was told by an unnamed
eyewitness who happened to be there. Hovik Hoveyan talking to the
REGNUM correspondent, said entered the fight of residents of an
apartment blocks at Meshropa Mashtotsa Ave. and electricians to
protect his son, who had come to the substation to learn the reasons
for constant electricity failures.
