Response to Where is Karakala |
|
Several years ago I read the book mentioned below (in German). It deals with the situation in the area of Ardahan and Kars in the 19th an the beginning of the 20th centuries. The author exploits a lot of sources and focuses even on tiny ethnic and/or religious communities (I remember some pages on Swiss and German settlements in the Kars region). Maybe you'll find Karakala on one of its maps. All the other subsequent contributors to this posting may find something on protestant or russian or whatever settlement in the region as well. The book contains several historic illustrations.
