hmm I think a problem is the mix of the contents in the region. the Edwards 3 piece report was quite impressive, but he only touched the fortifications.
I wonder if Penek was originally Armenian build or simply influenced. Was it attended by Chalcedonian Armenians? Same of Iskhan. Certain aspects, including iscriptions!!! are Georgian, but still I wonder on the architects themselves as well as worshippers. We know for a fact that this region was home to a large number of Chalcedonian Armenians.
Was Ishkhan not build by the Catholicos Narses III?
