Most of the south facade of Mren collapsed in the early months (January or February) of 2008. The south facade (and probably the whole church) is about to follow it.
Mren was exactly the monument that should have been repaired, unlike Holy Cross church on Aghtamar, or the Tigran Honents church at Ani, both of which were under no danger of collapse and whose politically-inspired "restorations" have done serious damage to the original structure (as well as the destruction of their visual attractiveness). |
