Varagavank (Yedikilise monastery) is being dismantled by villagers in order to construct a mosque. There is not even the smallest amount of truth to this report. I visited the village in July and the condition of the monastery is unchanged from previous years.
There is a great deal of new construction going on in the village, many old houses (by old, I mean 1950s-1980s) have been demolished and replaced by new ones. An entirely new district has been constructed to the east of the village, higher up the hillside and overlooking the monastery, there was an Armenian cemetery on part of that site (though its existence based on its surface remains would have been hard to recognize).
