Not quite

At last count we were the 4th highest pub in England.
The highest is Tann Hill near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales, which is where Ted Moult filmed the Everest advert.

And... just to put the record straight we weren't "The Slaughtered Lamb" in "American Werewolf in London" either.

Hope that's helped

Paul

I think the highest pub in England is the New Inn, in Flash, Staffordshire @ 1514 feet

Recently, unless I'm mistaken, there have been (as yet unsubstantiated) reports that the Cat & Fiddle (in the Peak District) might actually be the highest pub again at 540m instead of 515m, i.e. higher than the Tan Hill, implying that the Ordnance Survey have apparently been getting it wrong. Anyway, I'd say the Lion is about the 7th highest in England, behind (not necessarily in this order): Tan Hill (near Reeth), Cat & Fiddle (near Buxton), Traveller's Rest (Flash Bar), the New Inn (Flash), the Kirkstone Pass Inn and a pub (whose name I've forgotten) in Postbridge, Dartmoor...unless there are others about.
