I was born in Middlesbrough and used to visit the Lion fairly frequently. The last time I visited was 1990 or thereabouts. On a recent return to Middlesbrough I decided to show my husband some of "my" Yorkshire, much of which has changed, sadly, for the worse.
However, on arriving at The Lion I was delighted to see that everything was just as I remembered it, apart from the muddy boots in the porch! I hope it stays the same for many more years to come.
