On our way back to Peterlee, Durham from a days visit to Flamingo Land, Pickering. We decided to visit The Lion having been recommended by a friend some time ago.
What a lovely, friendly place we found with a roaring coal fire warming the whole place, giving the pub that homely feeling.
The food was first class, I had the home made beef curry which I found to be very nice and plentyful. My wife had the beef and mushroom pie, she said it was amazing, the beef was made to perfection and my son had cod and chips, it must have been very nice as he never left anything. All meals were cleared with only the one disapointment, we'd finished.
I will certainly visit again in the near future, even if it's a 2 hour round trip, it'll be worth it.
