When i visited the Lion a few weeks back , i was inspired to write this poem...
The Moors
How bright the stars shine way up high
and the moon lights up the sky
over the moors, that are so wild
not a place for man, woman or child
its bleak in winter , with snow and rain
but visit you will once again
drive or walk, enjoy the view
visiting The Lion Inn too
Open fires and real ales
take shelter from the storms and gales
the staff are friendly , the rooms are nice
you'll want to go more then once or twice
Relax and enjoy the warmth of the fire
the weather ouside is very dire
Walkers come from near and far
enjoy a meal & pint in the bar
the fog is thick, the snow is deep
into your bones the chill will seep
your mind plays tricks , was that a ghost?
you saw as you did the coast to coast
so if you visit, these moors so bleak
stay at the Lion for a week
soak up the atmosphere of this delightful place
what more can i say, i rest my case......
