A problem for all the experts out there

Greetings,

I have been working with computers for a long time now, and for the first time, I am stuck.

I got a "new" motherboard yesterday, a fairly unknown brand....DTK PRM 27I.

Setup is as follows:

Old motherboard was a Intel, dont remember the config, 512 RAM p3 450.

I changed motherboards, put the memory Hard drives and such on it, everything worked fine when I booted. Except the CD player. Great I thought Id broken it, but say noooo, I tried the CD player in another computer, and it works fine.

The CD player works with the new motherboard if I only have the power cable in it, the second I put the IDE cable in, it refuses to work. The light on it is not shining, I can not open the sledge. When I remove the IDE cable, it works fine. Also if I have the CD player in another computer, works fine.

I have tried with 4 different IDE cables, I have tried all the jumper settings in combination with the jumper settings, and all the connectors on the cables. I am stuck!

The CD player works in any other computer I have tried, just not in this one. I have reset the bios, although I dont think the problem is there, since the light on the CD player usually blinks a few times when starting the computer(in normal cases) but on this computer, it just does not work.

I am asking all ppl out there, please help! What have I missed ?
The CD player is a Samaung SW 224 CD/RW fairly new, January this year.

Load the IDE/PCI drivers that came with your new MB..
If im right, Go to control panel, system, click on the performance tab, It probly says your running your drives in MsDos compatabilty mode..

Could be ghost drivers.Boot into safe mode and clear the drivers altho i think Kelly is prob right about the dos compatability mode drivers.
