Good low budget system?January 24 2003 at 2:29 AM | RMS123 |
| Can anyone tell me if you think these parts sound sound right for a low budget system for gaming?
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ Retail
KT333 Motherboard Retail
512MB PC2700 RAM
80GB 7200 RPM 8MB buffer HD Retail
ATI Radeon 9500 128 MB Video Card Retail
ATX Mid Tower Case w/ 400w power supply
CoolerMaster Socket-A cooler
I already have a CD-RW drive, floppy, monitor, netork card, monitor, keyboard and mouse.
I estimate these parts at $750. I do not plan on paying more than 800. thanks. |

If that 750.00 is just for the parts that you listed than it is a little high. I am going to be building a system soon with pretty much the same parts you listed and complete with monitor, it is only going to cost around $640.00. If you check around on your parts you can get some pretty good deals.

that looks gr8 for a 'budget' system. Consider wot you might spend on speakers and decent keys + mouse. Shame to build a nice pc then have a crappy mouse!
good luck |

Agree with previous reply; a bit too much $. I just built the following:
Asus A7N8X-Deluxe
AMD 2700, 333Mhz
512 Meg Kingston DDR @ 400Mhz
80 GB WD HD
ATI AIW 9700 Pro
Case w/ 400 W p/s
I used existing components that you mentioned, but only spend $875. Mind you, that's with ~$330 video card. Where were you buying your components?
