Just build a new computer with the WD800DJ Sata 80 meg HD. Everything went well, Bios saw everything including the WD800 (Asus K8N motherboard). I put in a boot disk and booted to A:/ and proceeded to load and do Fdisk for large HD under a CDboot 98 disk I had. I think that was a mistake, I can no longer access the a:/ driver even when I tell the bios to make it the 1st bootable drive. I now have the correct boot disk for XP and can't get it to boot from any drive.
Can anybody help me to get this drive back so I can format and load XP operational system?
Hello Pat,
what processor are you using?
if your processor is too small to carry such a size of Harddisk then you might have more problems. however if you are installing WinXp, then make sure your CD rom drive is working. Insert the Winxp cd in to the drive and follow the installation instructions.
the Cd will help you format the disk and if you wish patision it.
Good Luck!
