Transferred HW to new case, added new heatsink & fans. Now nothing appears on monitor

I really hope one of you will be able to help me out with this!

About a year ago I built myself a new PC which has been performing great but has been running at a fairly high temperature and has been quite loud. I decided to do something about this so I bought myself a new case, a new heatsink, a few ¡¥silent¡¦ fans and set about transferring all the components from one case to the other. Specification, the steps I took and the outcome follow.

I kept the following components:

Asus P5GD2 Deluxe Socket-775
Intel Pentium 4 550 3.4Ghz HT Socket 775
Sapphire Radeon X700 PRO PCI-Express 256MB
Western Digital WD800JD Caviar SE 80GB 7200RPM SATA
Corsair (VS1GBKIT533D2), 1GB Kit (2 x 512MB) DDR2
Sony DVD RW (forgotten the model at the moment)
Floppy drive
TV card (can¡¦t remember details)

New components:

Antec P150 (with Antec Neo-HE 430W PSU + Antec tri-cool 120mm exhaust fan)
Scythe Ninja Plus Fanless HeatPipe Cooler (I added a fan)
2 x 92mm silent fans (intake)
1x 120mm silent fan (to attach to heatsink)
Anti vibration gaskets for case-mounted fans

Steps taken:

1. Removed DVD, floppy & hard drives from old case
2. Mounted new fans on new case
3. Removed graphics card and tv card and set them aside, out of the harms way
4. Removed motherboard from case and put it on the worksurface (left RAM sticks in it)
5. Removed intel heatsink and fan from MB
6. Cleaned residual compound off CPU heat spreader
7. Fitted mounting brackets to the MB (plate on the underside, plastic ¡¥washer¡¦ between bracket and MB top-side surface, screw from underneath up into bracket)
8. Applied Arctic Silver 5 as per instructions on website (ie. clean both surfaces with lint-free cloth, apply blob of compound to CPU heat spreader, place heatsink on top)
9. Clipped the heatsink onto the brackets (I needed to push the CPU down with a fair bit of force to ensure that it clipped onto the brackets!)
10. Attached the 120mm fan onto the heatsink so that airflow is pointing backwards towards the exhaust fan.
11. Mounted MB in case, connecting all cables (front power switch, reset switch, LEDs, USB/audio, power supply x 2, firewire, SATA and IDE cables, fan cables, etc.)
12. Fitted DVD, floppy & HD, connecting other end of cables & power to them
13. Didn¡¦t fit graphics card or TV card until I had connected/tidied up all cables (so that I had space to manoeuvre), ensuring they were out of the way and not impeding airflow.
14. Then I fitted the graphics and tv card.
15. Finally, I connected a standard PS2 keyboard & mouse and a monitor to the VGA and DVI connectors of the graphics card.

Then I turned the computer on. The first time not a lot happened and I realised I had connected the power switch, reset switch, leds etc. little cables the wrong way around to the MB ¡V after turning these around, I turned everything on and it was a lot quieter than before ƒº but¡K nothing appeared on the monitor! The DVD drive and hard drive both start up and the fans all start but nothing came up on the monitor ƒ¼

The user guide for my MB says that there are various combinations of beeps that will sound if there is a problem but I don¡¦t get any beeps at all.

When I unplugged the monitors to make sure they were properly connected I got messages on the monitors saying they weren¡¦t connected so they seemed to recognise that they were or weren¡¦t connected to a graphics card.

I initially thought the problem would be with the graphics card but the fan on the graphics card is spinning around so seems to be on. I still thought that there might be a problem so I turned everything off and swapped in an alternative graphics card (also PCI-Express) but got exactly the same outcome.

I am not sure what the problem is now! All I can think of is that maybe when I took the MB out I unknowingly knocked or scratched part of it or damaged it when fitting the heatsink. Perhaps the problem is that when I fitted the heatsink I inadvertently did something to the CPU. Would these two problems cause the described problems? Perhaps it is a problem with the HD (it is mounted by being suspended between the rubber straps option that comes with the case) ¡V when I was squeezing it between these pieces of elastic maybe something happened. Again, could any of these things have cause the described problems (NB, as mentioned, I got no beeps or anything indicating a problem when I booted up).

Please, please, please can someone try and help me by advising what the problem might be. Is there a way that I can test what the problem is? Has anyone heard of this before?

I am desperate now as I have exhausted my knowledge of the internal workings of a PC ¡V I would be most grateful if one of you can help!

Many thanks in advance,
