Judging by thier roster and After preseason and game 1 it has become apparent that the clippers are destined by design to be a lunch bucket team. In other words a team that can't score. We haven't had a player in the top 10 in scoring since 03-04. Since then there have been a few years we haven't even had a player in the top 20, and last year not a player in the top 30!!! That is a remarkable stat considering there are only 16 teams!,,,,,
The rules have changed and with the way the game is called ( especially on the island) this has been proven not to work. Every team that has had success from the vees, vipers, kings, vees before them etc.. have had solid scoring. At least a top line with some fire power.
Mike Vandewhatever is going to make an embarrassment out of nanaimo if he doesn't soon see the light and understand which way the growth of the game is going.......just my 2 cents....

It may seem like ancient history, but Vernon Vipers only had 194 goals in 2010/2011, behind 10 other teams in the league including Nanaimo. They finished the regular season first in their conference and 2nd in league standings. I would say they had a half descent playoff run as well.
Hats off to you ya seen that coming. No powerplay. The leading scorer is ranked 479th in league scoring. 4 lines of the same crap. Good thing we are not in the mainland division or we would be last. After tonights game that Fitgerald for fitzgerald trade sure is ugly. 12th place overall??? One can only hope that MVK does something to get an elite scorer soon instead of waiting until too late like last year. And we are hosting this year? I'm embarrased.
I am glad you have to do with this team. The fitzgerald's did nothing except have a puck go off their leg for a goal and a pass behind the net that somehow made it in the net. Trevor played well with a goal, a fight, and played pretty well. I don't know where you get these figures but go back and look again and stay there pls.
If the Fitzgearld's did nothing ,how come Leo was 1st star. Big deal our Fitzgerald had a fight . I'm not there to see fights , i'm there to see nice hockey moves. The fight didn't improve the team's play . Everytime the triplets were on the ice ,they seemed to be buzzing around our net? Noone on the clippers can pass or receive the pass as well as they can . Because of their size they have to outwork the opposing players every shift.Noone works harder than they do .8 times out of 10 they came off the boards with the puck. The one that plays center is best face off guy i've seen this year. In the 1st meeting of the year ,he beat our top guys everytime . Trever couldn't beat him . My point being is size means nothing in face off circle. And yes the clippers need all the fans they can get for every game. Maybe it is time to make a switch in captain. Kramer hardest working player on team . He sets the tempo for team . I find Fraser consistent. Since Gordon came back ,he's been playing with he's head up his butt . If he doesn't want to be here ,trade him.
I am 100% with you nanclips. I would take back the triplets any time in the team. They are exciting to watch and no matter if the puck got in his legt for a goal, at least he scored. That is something our guys don't do. I know it's too late to go back in time. The trade is done and nothing we can do about it. Yes we need a good scorer and maybe a couple more.
This trade of Fitz for Fitz was a bad one but i disagree with your reasoning.. One problem with the team is leadership.. Fitz is good on face offs thats it.. They promised him the big C and he is not holding up to his responsibilities.. i think he has lost the room. Krammer is a much better leader... I also think we need some patience
who really wants to watch the crash and bash style hockey, apparently not many in nanaimo by the attendance numbers 1100-1000.
don't blame the players their just playing a style they're asked to play, Fitz is the prefect player for they're system he crashes and bashes and gets a few goals by his hard work, he is a hard worker know taking that away from the kid, but is he a skilled first unit PP guy "NO WAY"
I seen Fraser play a few times last year in the Dub he was a lot better player in the that league because of the roll he played, he made one or two hits a game, but wasn't running around trying to hit guys & bringing in a couple of goal scorers isn't going to help as they will be told to play physical first then worry about putting the puck in the net.
I just find they spend to much time looking for the hit and it takes them out of position.
I if the coaches wanted to stop it they would, so I will predict by Christmas attendance will be down to 700-800 a game.
I had 4 season tickets for the last 14 years but not this year.
Bob the raiders game was at 1PM so how did that affect Clippers attendance??I was at both games.Stop making excuses for a Clippers team that is trying to emulate the McNabb era. Those days are long gone.
Fans need to stick by there team, even in a losing season. If your too negitive, maybe stay home. I think the clips have potencial this year. I'm a PR Kings fan, were not as great as last year, but were building a young team, so are the Clips. Vanderkamp is a good coach.
Vandy is a good coach if the team was playing in the 80s.
The game has evolved but the coach has not. Old style hockey does not work in todays game. The Clips are a good team and look even better on paper with some of the players they have. Teaching old stlye hockey just does not work in todays on ice hockey game.
Coach need to modernize his coaching techiques and play in order to have a successful year with this team or any other.
I don't think that will happen... vandekamp doesn't ever seem to see himself at fault its always "his players needed to be better or they justt didn't execute...." last year it was he "didn't have the chance to recruit the exact team he needed" but that can't be used this time. so whats he gonna say?
