For your information, most of these so called "banana boat" players, have learnt and developed their cricketing skills here in Canada. Many Canadians don't even know we have a bloody team, that competes internationally. Most people are so ignorant to that fact, and don't even care to know about the game. We do have a local talent pool, and many players are chosen from that pool. Canadian cricket does not need ignorant people like you. It is the immigrants from these colonial countries that have kept the game alive in this country, and will continue to keep it alive. Just because someone is from a different background, ie. not white, does not mean they are not Canadian. Many of our cricketers here in Canada, have parents who come from cricketing nations, but these cricketers themselves are born and bred Canadian. Some people on this bloody forum had the nerve to say that players like Nathan Richards and others, were the only true born and bred cricketers to come out of Canada, because they had longer generations of their family living here. These are not he only born and bred cricketers that Canada has produced.
Many first generation Canadians, like Aneel Nauth, Gibran Rahaman, Devin Persaud, Jason and Kevin Sandher, Zubin Surkari etc. have represented this country with distinction and honour. I can't believe that someone coming from such a Multicultural country like ours would say something like that. Just because someone does not have a english name, can we say they are not Canadian. That is a bunch of crock. People like you are not even worthy on commenting on the game. | |
