through NTELOS. Lately I have had a lot of problems getting connected and staying connected. Does anyone else have this problem? I contacted NTELOS and they told me it was Verizon's fault. Any help would be appreciated.
to move to an area where I can get internet through cable or directv. I have some friends in Tennessee that have Charter and you can find anything at such a fast pace.
I have dial up also but I have optidynamic and have had it for a few years now and have never had any problems with it, actually everything loads up pretty fast with it and everything.
In response to the msg about Ntelo's, i also have my PC service through them, and they tell me that it's the fault of the phone lines. I pay for everything over 50 dial-up's per month, i usually have to redial several times. I just wish we could get better phone lines around here, i think to the best of my knowledge that ours was changed in 1964 or 65, it's about time we begin to complain. Hope nobody finds any errors to complain about, it's real easy on here to make typo's.
It has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I also have a problem with my phone cracking and popping. I called Verizon and asked if there had been other complaints concerning the Clinchco phone lines and was told no. I don't know what is going on but it is very aggravating.
Verizon sometimes will tell you to try this method to see if it is the wiring inside your house or the service coming to your Network Box outside of your house.
Get a test phone, something that can plug in to a jack without a power source and go out to the Network Box. Open the side that reads "Customer Access" and plug the phone in to the jack that is designated for testing. If you hear the popping and cracking, it is the line coming up to your house. If the dial tone is clear, your wire inside of your house is likely grounded or has corrosion on it somewhere.
I have rewired some homes because the phone lines are split too many times that weakens the sound carrying capabilities a couple of times and it made drastic improvements. One customer was only connecting at 24kbps and after taking a few unnecessary jacks loose her connection jumped to 48k.
