Come on guys, there has to be something positive going on in Haysi. How about the football team? Having another good season. Also, the Autumn Festival was a huge success. The new sidewalk looks good at the high school. It is exciting that the town has acquired some really nice property in Splashdam. Let's try to lift each other up instead of tearing one another down. There are nice things we can say about all of the candidates. You can show support for one without condemning another. Let's work together instead of against each other.

I agree that we need a change of pace here. What's the story behind the property in Splashdam? How was it acquired and what's the plan for it?

I think the plan is to use the property acquired off a logging company for a community/youth type center. I believe there was 20 + real nice acres acquired at a very reasonable price.

That's excellent news. Who's behind the effort or is it still in the idea phase? I'd be interested in getting involved in that.

I was pondering the probability of doing some revitalizing of the Splashdam Coal Tipple down below the train tressel.

That would be a nice spot to have an area for White Water Rafting and a Hiking/Biking trail.

If we ever get that trail that Gene is working on, and I hope we do, it could mean new business opportunities for some entreprenuerial person.
