Instead of Bashing the Opponent, Let's Try This....

There is so much negativity eating up this board right now. With all the disasters and tragedy's and conflicts going on all around us, why don't we try another method of discussing politics.
Here's my idea:
Instead of bashing the opponents skull in with words, why don't we try to tell others what's GOOD about the candidate WE support. If your candidate is good enough to get your vote you should be able to tell us why, instead of telling us why we shouldn't vote for the other person. Explain to us what you know about your party and the individuals you will be voting for. Tell us what you know they have to offer the community. I don't currently live at home, so I can't put my two sense in when it comes to who I think would be the best person(s) for up and coming offices, or I would be the first to give you an example of what I mean by telling you who I intend to vote for and why. However, I do have much at stake in all of you at home. I want the best for everyone back home and I'm interested in hearing what good things candidates are bringing to the table, so that when I do return home I'll have positive things to look forward to.
Now, just a note to those of you who will argue that certain statements made about a candidate are not true...let's just for this string of conversation leave it to all positives. Build up your candidate and your party. I believe that if someone is a good enough candidate their credentials will speak for themselves and on the flip side, if they are not a good person you will see it in the people's words. For example: Someone who is (in all truth) a good person, people can speak boo-coos about their qualifications, what they have done, and what they intend to do. On the other hand, the one who just doesn't have it all together will be seen as well, because folks just won't be able to tell too many good things about them. In other words they will be grasping for straws.
So give it a shot. Let's see who comes out on top with positives! I look forward to seeing who will rise to the challenge and meet it with class and a positive demeanor.
Copy and Paste This Format if you Need Help Beginning:
1: Your Name
2: Your Party
3 Your Candidates Names/Their Party (I say this because some folks vote both democratic and republican.)
4. Their Platform
5. Their Promises
6. Their Credentials/Experience
7. What They Have Done Thus Far
8. In Your OWN words why we should vote for them.
Please explain what Splashdam has that Gene Counts can possibly give us? Tell him the coal dock was torn down many years ago, and theres nothing he can give us fr splashdam and tell me one thing he's accomplished while in office because i sure would love to know what it was.
I can believe this, it is why our county is where it is today.

Bartkick Gal,
The first thing you do is down a candidate in a string started by someone asking for positive input on a candidate you support.
Secondly, everything positive does not need to revolve around coal.
I do not know what ideas that Gene has about Splashdam but I know I have several ideas that include the old Splashdam Dock area.
Here is an excerpt from one of my previous posts on what I would like to see accompllished in the Sandlick District;
"The walking/biking path from Haysi to the Breaks Park would be a wonderful addition to our area if we commit to it and market it in the right ways to bring people to this area.
The old loading docks at Splashdam would be an excellent area to construct a bike rental, hiking supplies and white water guide and outfitter's business.
There seemed to be plenty of room down there to add more business locations as well.
With access to the railroad, an Amtrak stop could even be a consideration.
I suppose I have high hopes for this area but I moved here because of tourism and stayed here because of the lifestyle, beauty of the land and the friendliness of the people."

No and i know that YOU didn't move here for the tourism, you were just a small boy, your grandparents brought you and your sister here. How can you say things like that? Please tell me one thing Gene Counts has done for us and i'll tell you what he hasn't done. if the truth hurts, he'll get over it, i got over something he did against me, but i certainly WILL NOT support him, not even if he ran for dog catcher.
I'm very familiar with when you moved here with your grandparents, they were good ppl, then you moved to Bartlick. I bet if the records were checked, i have much more education than you do,Now you chew that over for awhile and cool off, we're not enemies yet and i hope we don't become enemies, that;s not good for our comunity, we have to stick together.
Why don't you just tell the truth, he moved here for a job, nothing more, back then we didn't hear very much about tourism. I really don't even know why people come here now, the trash bags lay beside the roads, our roads are deplorable, we really have a beautiful place back here in these mountains, so why don't our county try to get better roadways into our communities? we should be so proud to live in a place such as Dickenson county, we have beautiful mountains and rivers sometimes called the Grand Canyon of the South. Our living conditions are changing, and everyone knows why. It's not safe anymore, you have to lock up everything and they can still get in and steal your belongings. women are afraid to drive at night without a gun in their vehicle. We're an entirely different place than where i grew up in, we never locked doors or carried a gun, we can't go back to those days and it's a shame that our grandchildern will never be as innocent as we were. ENOUGH SAID, SO LETS BOTH DROP THIS Ok
Are you insinuating that I am lying about something?
You don't know why my Grandfather moved here, you just assume you know because you might have known my family.
I agree things have changed since then and times are harder now.
But acting like you know more than I do about my family and basically calling me a liar is no way to be.
I will give you a little history lesson.
My Grandfather worked in the Ship Yards in East Virginia.
Every Summer we would go camping, mostly to the Smoky Mountains.
Then he heard about the Breaks Interstate Park.
A newly developed attraction where they had started a campground.
We started coming here more and more because he liked this area better and it was close to his family in West Virginia.
My Grandfather got to know the Superintendant and Chief Range on a first name basis and became friends with them.
When my Grandfather retired from the Ship Yards he was offered a job running the campground.
He took the job and we moved here, living in the Park year round.
My Grandparents found a home on Bartlick and I have been here since.
Living and working in the Breaks Interstate Park for many years myself, I think I know what Toursim is.
I was visiting the Breaks before they added the second campgorund, before they built the pool, before Nature Drive.
I can remember the three legged deer that used to come through the campground and let people hug and pet it, this was before some poacher killed it for a Ham.
I remember when the Superintendant, Harold Zanger I believe his name was, used to show Woody Woodpecker cartoons and movies from a projector in the campground on a regular basis.
I met people from probably every state in the union and several differnt countires.
My Grandmother was made an Honerary KY Colonel.
My Grandparents were recongnized and recievced awards from many major camping organizations including the Good Sam's Club.
Now the Breaks Interstate Park has progressed to have an Ampitheater, a meeting hall, added more parking, shelters and lodges just to name a few things.
If this is not Tourism, I don't know what is.
So now, what makes you think it was not Toursim that brought my Grandfather here?
Because then he knows you will know he is full of hot air!! Many people are told things! and remember them.. Heck as far as that goes, I was in that Theater when Lincoln was shot.. the man came up behind him and our pres did not evey know it was coming! So are you guys impressed with my knowledge??
Re: I am just wondering why someone would want to know when I was born!

which guy - Booth?? calf-length boots, new spurs, black clothes and a black hat he carried a compass, a small derringer, and a long bowie knife that could be stuck inside his pants - Now what?? You are not the only person that knows how to GOOGLE!! But at least I don't try to act like it was naturally known knowledge! As stated above, you can have knowledge by hearing something - and not just by being there.
As far as looking un-intelligent as you put it, I think that hits the cliche of the Pot calling the kettle black! or... for you... the pumkin calling the bag orange!!
