New Garbage Law & Various People's Hoop-La!

December 9 2007 at 10:37 PM
Young Ole' Haysian

I would like an honest and truthful general opinion of what people think of this new garbage law. I can not imagine anyone actually arguing that leaving a trashy mess outside is okay, but perhaps I’m missing something. For there have been at least four people defending waste, rubbage, and garbage left piled up about their homes and not the cleanup thereof.

What is wrong with people? I don’t comprehend it, I am honestly bumfuzzled. I never thought in my life I would hear someone say that a flower pot or some sort of ceramic in the yard can be compared to a bunch of cars, lumber, scarps, trash, metal, and other piles of refuse laying about. I just am virtually speechless, my head is numb from thinking about how someone can justify being trashy. JUSTIFY IT! Oh me, oh my…I sure do miss Buford. Anyway, is it or is it not a positive matter to ask people to clean up after themselves? I mean if all the world went around with the mindset that we can trash up a place as much as we want and leave our yards full of various debris, why I dare say the roaches and rats, crows and buzzards, maggots and flies would shortly take over.

Ha, this may be the case currently, I don’t know? : ‘ (

Older Generation

The younger generation is whats wrong with the county today. They lie, steal, and are drug additics. As far as junk cars we have paid for them, not you nor the county. We can use parts off of these vehicles. Some of us has not got big paying jobs to buy the parts to keep up our vehicles. As far as a garage the same goes for that. Unlike the young people going out stealing parts. We have paid for ours. Another thing it is none or your ________ business what my place looks like. You must be one of those rich people that has money running out their rear end. Unfortunaly some is not. But that does not mean that you are any better then them. Why don't people tend to their own business. As much that is going on in the county why worry about a few cars and as you say junk on other peoples property? You should be ashamed of your self for saying that we have to live with the older generation until they die. How rude can one person be. If it wasn't for the older generation we sure wouldn't be here today. Don't you think?

The rest of the world

I grew up in dickenson county {Haysi} back in the 50's and 60's and there have always been a problem as far as i am concerned about old junk cars, appliances, etc, etc, sitting around on peoples properties,,I dont live in the county any more so i guess what i say doesnt matter..but i still visit dickenson county as often as i can and i bring my family and friends there for visits,,I am embarassed at the sights in some folks yards and on their properties..I have lived in Ohio ,western Ky and at different places in michigan ,,all these places have laws reguarding junk cars and trash laying on peoples properties,,where i live now any cars that are not taged with up to date tags are considered junk and have to be moved out of sight in a guarge or sent to a junk yard..These laws have always been there in the rest of the world,,I now live in a rural area in michigan and the township has laws concerning junk cars and rubbish laying around on your property or the property owners get tickets that they have to pay,,nad the rubbish has to be removed..I agree with these new laws and hope they are enforced and the rest of the world have enforced them for years,,it might be something new for you folks in dickenson county but its not for us folks that live elsewhere..our neighborhoods are neat and clean,,its just that dickenson county is behind times ...When you visit our neighborhoods you dont have the eye sores to look at as you drive by ,,when we visit your neighborhoods we would appreciate the same...

December 11 2007, 7:35 AM

First i would like to say that i defend our right to bear arms,,I am a gun owner myself..but i believe its time to have new laws concerning assualt rifles and pistols, and a ban on any assualt riffles and rapid firing machine pistols that can shoot 1000 rounds per minute and make them illigal..At the latest mall shooting the shooter used an ak-47 riffle and killed 8 people only in a few seconds, and ak-47 can enpty a 30 round magazine in 1.3 seconds...the police arrived in 6 minutes and it was all over by then..I defend our right to protect our selfs and property with firearms but not assualt riffles..If a druggie breaks into your house with a rapid fire machine pistol that can shoot 1000 rounds per minute and you pull out your 38 special you will be out gunned and probably dead and the entire wall of your bedroom will be taken out..These types of guns need to be outlawed,,i know that steps on the toes of folks that defend our right to bear arms but these types of guns need to go..Ak -47's and the rapid firing machine pistols can be bought at guns shows with no background check..that is scary and needs to be changed..

Where in the Constitution does it garuantee you the right to litter? Where in the Constitution does it give you the freedom to do with your property whatever you want? Before you go spouting off about loss of liberty know what you are talking about.

Where in the constitution does it give the government the right to tell me what I can do with my own property? Property that I worked and paid for-property that I work and pay the taxes on -property that I carry insurance on by working and paying the insurance bill on. I thought our constitution was about our rights and freedoms, so that if I want to "spout off" about something that I think is taking away part of my rights, then I should be able to do just that.

I agree about our freedom being taken away.. we have some old junk jeeps on our property that I myself would love to have gone they are an eye sore. but I dont think that anyone has the right to tell me that I have to remove them from my property that I pay taxes on. The way I feel if they want to tell us what we can & can't have on our property then they should be paying our property taxes and our insurance and anything else we pay on it. then they would have the right to tell us what to do with it. but until they do pay all that then they should butt out.

You need to think about it for a while longer. What if someone is trying to fix up some of the old vehicles in their yard? What if they don't want to get rid of the vehicles because of sentimental value? Does that not count for anything in this world. Guess not. Or maybe people just don't care. Is that the case? Like I said trash is only ones opinion. So if everyone is having to get rid of sentimental items and so on then to me people with cermics, flower pots and so one need to get rid of that as well. I have seen some places with to many of these items and OH MY ITS AN EYESORE as you say.

You know what. There are alot of people that probably agree with me but are to scared to say anything. So all I can say to you is kiss my a**. Because I am making sense. The county is wanting a little to much from everyone. There are already taking tax money, etc. What else do they want? I say leave us alone. What is on our property is ours. Just like Mr. Deel I will again say I agree if you don't like what you see then don't look. Didn't your parents ever tell you to not judge people. Guess not.

Sneaky and Stupid

December 10 2007, 8:31 PM

If you aint suppose to judge no one then how come you are judging people with flower pots or ceramics in their yard. You are doing what you said you don't want done to you. You contradict yourself in more than one way. Your not only "sneaky" but stupid lmao. I agree with the person who said that every where else around has laws that get on to people who don't clean up and Dickenson County is just now picking up on what everyone else's been doing for years. We are the behind the times. You and everyone else who have nasty old yards are just lazy and they aint no way anyone on here is going to think your much of a person for standing up for a trashy yard. You sure are stupid.

does to affect your property rights is ask you to pick up your trash and take care of your dog and keep it at home, you've got it made.
Think about how those folks feel who lost their homes based on eminent domain so their town could have a Wal-Mart.
It hasn't been too long ago that folks had their property split down the middle by a train track, also under the grounds of eminent domain.
I bet that there were quite a few folks on the Trail of Tears who took care of their environment.
We shouldn't even need laws to FORCE us to take care of what God gave us. Didn't He say it was our job to be good stewards of our environment? Europeans did everything they could to kill off the best stewards and called them heatherns as an excuse.
