Does anyone know why he is retiring? The paper said semi-retiring, what does that mean? Has anyone heard if Barbara is going to be working anywhere else around here?

You are so right. I used to go to him when he first

December 11 2007, 5:32 PM

opened practice in Clintwood (in the old Ford garage building where RiteAid is now). He was a good and caring doctor. Thru the years things changed. My job dictated that I knew scores of ppl who received Medicaid. Most of the time there would be a waiting room full of Medicaid card holders. I am not against Medicaid but I am against ppl getting a prescription for 1.00 (I think it costs more now but at the time that was the cost to the patient) and selling the pills for a heck of a lot more than I could make in 2 weeks. This became more and more noticeable but I still continued to go there because he did have some good FNP'S or PA'S. I have never been on any kind of medications other than about once a year I have to get something for a cold or upper respiratory infection. I don't do nerve pills or pain medications. That is why when I got a migraine that was hurting so bad that it swelled my eyes almost shut I went to Dr. Senter and asked him for a shot or something to ease my pain. He told me I didn't need anything but to go home and put a cold compress on my head -DUH - did he not think I had already left work and tried that???? Well, he finally conceded and gave me a prescription for ONE...mind you ..."1"...pain pill...and it was nothing powerful....I felt so stupid taking that prescription to have it filled....BUT let me back up here...when I was checking out I must have made a spectacle of myself cause I was hurting and mad and didn't care who knew it....by the time I made my way out of the office and to my car...this guy who had been in the waiting room approached me....the guy lived in the "holler" where my mamaw & papaw lived and he sort of knew me but not enuff that he should have followed me out and offered to sell me some pain pills....you don't even want to know what I told his sorry self..and that was my last trip to the good doctor....I know the doctor can't control ppl selling their medication but I am told he had been red-flagged by Medicaid so many times I am surprised he hadn't been shut down several years ago...it seemed to me like the majority of the people he continue to write the prescriptions for addictive drugs were the people who seemed to be abusing them. People with legitimate claims couldn't get a pill. That always seemed strange to me.

I went there

I went to see Dr.senter one time for something minor. He wrote me seven prescriptions for addictive drugs. I ripped them up in the lobby, threw them in the trash and I wanted to report him but I didnt really know how to go about it.

I SURE HOPE IS NOT AT THE E.R. HE WAS RAISED TO DO THE RIGHT THING, BUT THE LOVE OF MONEY TURNED HIM INTO TRASH WITH DRUGS, I DONT SEE HOW HE COULD ENJOY RETIREMENT AFTER HE HAS CAUSED SO MUCH HEART ACHE TO SO MANY OF HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. EVERY ONE WILL PAY FOR THEIR WRONG DOINGS.

I look at it like this

December 13 2007, 9:08 AM

Yes, we have a huge drug problem in this county. BUT....the people that sell drugs don't make anyone buy them. No one twists their arms off. I agree that a lot of times medication is prescribed to people that is addictive, and the patient taking it isn't aware how strong it is, or that is has great potential to become addictive (as with the case of Oxycontin). However, I believe nowadays everyone knows what medications are addictive (such as strong pain meds) and it is THEIR choice whether or not to take such medicine. No one makes someone buy or take drugs. That is the buyers choice, not the sellers. If someone needs to be punished I think doctors charts need to be audited more, and the people buying the drugs off the street need to be punished and offered a drug rehabilitation in jail, because when they get out they are just going to run right back to the dealer. 100% wrong

December 13 2007, 1:12 PM

It is not OK for someone to sell their prescription meds. The people that buy them may not be able to control their addition, but the ones that sell has no excuse or need for doing so and IMO are among the lowest of scum.

We disagree

December 13 2007, 4:15 PM

I think the people that buy are worse. The people that sell don't twist anyone's arms to make them buy the stuff. It is sad that in this day and time older people have to sell medicine to get money to pay bills, and that's where alot of drugs on the street come from. Elderly people.

One is just as bad as the other. It doesnt matter if you buy or sale. They are both illegel. People that sale contribute to the drug problem. If everyone said no then these people couldnt get drugs. It doesnt matter who is worse buyer or the one that sales. The point is it is all bad and this county has a real problem. The person who agrees to sale the stuff is just as guilty.

Shame on them Miss Priss

I dont care who you are there is NO and i mean NO excuse to sale a pill. Give it to God, he will provide. Saleing pills is a crime, a sin, and a shame. I dont care who you are!!! No excuse is good enough. I cant believe that you would even try and convince people that such a thing isnt as bad . It is horrible and it contributes to the problem. If no one would sale then no one could buy.

The buyer KNOWS better and so does the seller. They BOTH know better, one is not any better or worse than the other.
