Oh give it a rest, will ya? We aren't losing 4000 soldiers every 5 years in Germany, Korea, etc. now are we? Remind us when it was that we fought insurgents in those countries, and for how long.

WWII. If not for our presence and the Marshall Plan, Europe would be in shambles. I shudder to think that if we didn't have committed leaders, willing to see a fight through, what the world would look like today. Hopefully, we keep working to improve Iraq (like it or not it is improving).

Everyday, in Korea, there are hostilities between US Soldiers and North Korean soldiers on the DMZ, 50 years after the end of hostilities, we are still at war with them. Do you know what it's like to be on a constant state of alert? I doubt it. And, if you tell me our presence isn't needed over there, I have some ocean front property in John McCain's state to sell you.

Also, what inspires these insurgents today? They know that the US doesn't have the resolve to finish anything if you bring about some casualties, starting with Vietnam, continuing with Beruit and growing during Somalia. If you run, it makes them bolder. If we run, where do they strike next?

I know you dismiss me as intellectually inferior, because that what liberals do when they disagree with an argument, they refuse to listen to anyone else, since no one can be as enlightened as them.

I anxiously await to hear from you again.

It's a funny thing about timetables and withdrawals, ain't it, because when a certain Democrat was in office, members of Congress, a current Republican presidential candidate, AND a certain future Republican president were falling all over themselves expecting the President to provide exit plans and timetables for withdrawal even BEFORE our troops were committed to fighting in, and protecting the citizens of, foreign countries. Sure don't see that now.

As for Korea, you are aware of plans announced several years ago to redeploy U.S. troops away from the DMZ, in part to reduce the level of hostilities with N. Korea and a chance for war between the N and the S. Right? Look, I'm not saying, hey, let's pull all troops from S. Korea. I agree that it's a good idea to keep them there. But at this time Iraq is not divided with a DMZ, or three, of its own, and I certainly don't think that is the goal. Just saying that IMO it's a little bit disingenuous to compare the two countries. The hostilities you cite between N. Korean and U.S. soldiers are nothing compared to Iraq.

The goal in Iraq is to get the Iraqis in shape to protect their own country. The goal is to unite the country and get the Iraqi security whipped in shape. Yet Bush is practically demanding that permanent bases be set up in Iraq, something that even Republicans in Congress are questioning. I'm sure you are aware of Bush's recent signing statement (one of several hundred during his term) that basically says screw Congress and their ban on permanent bases in Iraq (part of the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act). I do believe it's up to Congress to fund such an endeavor, yet once again Bush has given them a big F.Y. I do wonder if you've read the Project for a New American Century and its goals for U.S. global domination?

The more I think about it the more right I think you are. I consider myself to be conservative so I started out with Romney and Huckabee as my favorites. I never thought Thompson had a chance because I never felt he really wanted to be there. In the last year or so I have became sick of the get nothing done, stick to party lines attitude in Washington. I believe McCain is the only candidate that could possibly get folks to cross party lines and actually get something done. His immigration stance does not sit well with the Conservative right, but if you look at his proposal as a whole it may be the most feasible I have heard. He definently will have my vote.

I like Huckabee. I think he could be much more fiscally conservative, but overall I like him. I enjoy hearing him speak and debate. His closing statement tonight in the debate may have been one of the greatest closing statements I have ever heard.

The Christian principles you refer to seem to be for the benefit of all while not forcing any one belief or way of life on anyone.

On the contrary, Huck seems to be pushing, for example, an amendment declaring marriage to be only between a man and a woman. It wasn't that long ago...the summer of 2006, I believe, and only months away from another election...that several politicians declared flag burning and same-sex marriage the two most important issues facing this country. However, after a few weeks, they just faded away for another 2 years. The Rightwingers only want to bring these two issues to the forefront when they think it will win them votes.

By the way...I just searched the text of the Constitution, and do not find the words "God," "Jesus," or "Christian" among the thousands of words of text.

You are correct the Constitution does mention God persay but it mentions the creator on numerous occasions which I doubt anyone would argue is the same thing. More importantly even before the constitution the country had to declare it's independence and the basis for the principles for which the newly established country would be founded on. Why repeat all those things in the constitution when they were clearly established in the declaration of independence?

Opening of the DOI:

"When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's GOD entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are CREATED equal, that they are endowed by their CREATOR with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Almost sounds like something you would hear in church doesn't it?
