■ Safe Boating Class offered. The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will host a Safe Boating Class at the Dickenson County Bass Building on March 15 at 9 a.m. Class limit is 25 people. Pre-registration is required and may be done by calling 276/835-7048 or 276/835-8844. The class is a six-hour course, so participants may want to bring a lunch.
■ Binns-Counts Community Center announces events. A clothing sale is planned for March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 and 22. SHARE distribution will be at 11 a.m. March 15.
■ Barter Theatre presents play free to children. Barter Theatre will present Little Red Riding Hood at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 16 at the Jettie Baker Center, located on Main Street in Clintwood. Children are admitted free, adults $5.
■ Youth soccer registration set. Dickenson County Youth Soccer registration will be held Saturday, March 15 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Clintwood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (across from Advance Auto Parts, Main Street). ■ Haysi Little League registration set. Registrations, including all age groups from t-ball to junior league will be held Wednesday and Thursday, March 5 and 6 from 5-6 p.m. at Haysi High School. Parents should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate. Coaches, managers and other volunteers are also needed, and registration for those will be held at the same time. ■ Boy’s basketball tournament. “Down-n-Dirty” boy’s ninth grade basketball tournament will be held at Clinchco Elementary School on March 8-9. Guaranteed three games. $100 per team. Contact Danny O’quinn at 865-4220 for more information.
■ 3 on 3 benefit basketball tourney. A 3 on 3 basketball tournament is planned for March 8 beginning at 10 a.m. at Sandlick Elementary School. ■ Monthly events for Haysi Community Library. Each Tuesday at 2 p.m. is Crafts with Regina- Feb. 26: Cross stitch/embroidery. All materials will be supplied. Please pre-register for craft workshops). Feb. 26 at 4 p.m.: Book Buddies for students in grades k-7. Feb. 21: Family Movie Night, call the library for the title of the movie. Popcorn and drink will be provided; Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.: Family Fun Night.
