| Why isn't anyone going to the pool halls anymore? When Jimmy Thacker had one it was usually packed. I know there is two in Haysi. One is right in the middle of town and the other is on the new road. Neither of them allow drugs or alcohol that I know of. I have no clue why no one will support others. No wonder Haysi can't have anything. |

You said that no one has the money for gas or to play pool. Well that may be so. But someone also responded that the two places didn't serve alcohol. Well if you don't have money for gas or to play then you sure shouldn't have the money to buy alcohol. Right?? Doesn't make any sense. Everyone makes alot of excuses don't they! I mean don't you agree if you don't have money for one then you don't have money for the other. |

read the blog below on flower shops...it is interesting that a recommendation is given by who is here the longest....that is the answer to why you can't have anything in Haysi. New businesses don't have a chance because people snob them out! |

usually the ones that have been in business the longest are the most reliable and have more experience, therefore they ususally do better work!! |

I agree with you on this, but since Jimmy has passed on don't people think that it is time to give other people a chance in this. I mean Haysi will never have anything until people support others. You have people wanting a nice place to take their family but when it happens no one shows up. These owners really try but it seems as though nothing is good enough. |

they probably arent going because they "dont" allow drugs and alcohol. If the place sold beer u wouldnt be able to find a parking space. |

what is so wrong with selling alcohol? You have to be over 21 to be served. This area needs something that is an adult entertainment facility. Not some honky tonk dive but a sports bar or dance club. There is absolutely nothing to do and it is sad! |

Almost all good places to eat away from here have bars where u can watch sports or just go and hang out. And u never see anyone acting stupid. People take their families, kids and dont think twice about it. But for some reason around here it just dosent work. Its like a magnet for trouble. It dosent bother me a bit to go to bristol and sit at a bar and drink a beer. But I wouldnt dare do that in Dickenson Co. |

I wonder why there is such a difference. Why is it so uncommon to grab a burger, cocktail, and watch a good game? |

Whats wrong with it is that some people don't want their young children around it. It is sad that people has to have those two items to have a good time or at least they think so. Why not give these owners a chance? |

I see no problem with an ADULT having a cold beer with dinner around children. However I understand that a lot of people don't want alcohol around their children at all, and that is their choice. I would like to see something like a bar/dance club around here but I doubt it will successfully happen around here anytime soon. Our county can't even get something for the children or teens so I don't think the adults will get anything anytime soon either. | |

Well who says that you have to have alcohol or drugs to have a good time? Is that a necessary thing? I don't think so. What about a place for the children to go? Are they suppose to stay home until the reach legal age? My lord you people try to make things hard on others. I also don't think that these places can sell beer. I'm not forsure though. |

we weren't discussing a place for kids to go! No, you can not, by law, serve alcohol in an establishment with anyone under 21 (18 to bus or waiter). It would be great to see a splash or skate park for kids. Also, adults need to be able to get out and have some fun. A sports bar or dance club is very needed! I don't NEED alcohol to have a good time but I do enjoy a cocktail or two from time to time! I am an adult and everything is good in moderation! My idea of a good time is not sitting on the front porch listening to others belly ache about how bad life is to them when they contribute to their own demise! |

That is possible. I don't doubt that one bit. But there is no need to say that it is because they don't allow alcohol and drugs if that is the case then. |

no one send we didn't frequent the pool halls because of no drugs or alcohol. We said this place needed a sports bar. End of story. You are all offended because we thought this area needed a respectable adult establishment. You misunderstood! |
