Sandlick PTO Meeting

August 18 2008 at 5:16 PM

Just wanted to let all of the SES parents know that the PTO will hold it's first meeting Thursday, August 28 at 7 pm in the Sandlick library. Even if you can't commit all of the time, any effort would be appreciated. There are no dues so just bring yourself, anyone you know that might be interested, and let's make this a great year for our kids!!!

I meant to ask you..

Are the kids welcome to come? Due to my husbands work schedule, he may be able to attend sometimes, but I have never had a babysitter, so she would pretty much have to come with me.

You can bring your child/children. We are going to try to set up an area to color to try to keep kids busy so we adults can chat! Look forward to seeing you there!

We were talking about children getting sick and catching colds and stuff easy, especially their first year.. well, my daughter caught a good one. She already had to miss yesterday and seemed like she felt better today and she cried yesterday cause I didn't let her go, so I let her go today and she came home with a temp of 103 and said she slept on the bus on the way home and woke up scared cause she thought they forget to let her off. My husband just called off work so we could take her to the er. Soon as she came in I gave her some fever medicine and put her in some cool water and got her temp back to normal. looks like she will be missing tomorrow too. I kind of feel bad, like a bad parent cause she will have already missed 2 days. She rarely ever gets sick and soon as school started she did!

That is pretty standard. You aren't a bad parent. Everyone's child gets sick more than usual when they start school. They really are pretty relaxed at the school about it. My son hardly ever gets sick and it seemed like he was sick the whole school year. His first grade teacher said it would be more mild this year but, it would still seem like a lot. I guess it is just expected. Honestly, keep your little one home, give her lots of TLC, and send her back when she is ready. They are so nice there, they will understand. Just a suggestion, you can probably call and get her assignments and if she feels well enough have her work on them so she doesn't fall behind. Good to talk to you the other day. I almost forgot, congratulations! Give me a call whenever you want and I hope I can help! Take care!

We spent the night in the ER, unfortunetly, we have pneumonia! Hopefully the antibotics will get rid of it pretty soon and she can go back to school monday. The doctor wrote her an excuse note and said not to send her the rest of the week. She is pretty upset about it but I tried to explain to her about spreading the germs to the other kids and making them sick too, so she said she wouldn't want to make no one else sick too so she would stay home till she got better. I'm going to run down tomorrow and pick up her work. They have been writing 1's and 2's (so far) and coloring yellow and green.. the couple days that she has actually got to go anyways, but she knows how to write to 12 pretty good and knows all her colors and has been coloring for years so she shouldn't be behind any. I just hope she stays so interested!

I hope she feels better!!! I have a son in 8th grade and when he was in K they didn't learn half as much as my 1st grader did last year. By the end of the year she will be reading, adding, subtracting, and doing some really cool science work! You should hold on to a couple of her first assignments and at the end of the year compare them- you will be blown away! Well, stay tucked in and give your daughter losts of lovin'- be careful w/ pnuemonia it is serious. Talk to you soon!
