This is a fundamental part of the revitalization of downtown Haysi.
Certain issues must be addressed and assigned, to create Focused Management Teams. Therefore to voice your opinion, and make it count YOU NEED TO ATTEND.
My only concerns to the econmic and physical needs of downtown Haysi is its PARKING and AIR QUALITY. How can you get customers to patronize your business if there is no place to park! and even if you do find a safe parking spot. The odor will take your breath away, when you step out of your vehicle. Who wants to endanger their health 'either by parking on the street or breathing the foul smelling air'just to keep someone else's business afloat? When I do put myself in harms way to shop on main street, nine out of ten times what I need, isn't even in stock or has been on the shelf too long, to be safe (e.g. dry rotted).
So please show up and Speak Your Mind about what would make you Shop (Patronize) your local Businesses! and keep Haysi from becoming a Ghost Town in the next ten years.

Blow up the whole town, start over, and rebuild next to Sandlick. I remember when "town was hopping" on Friday evenings and Saturdays with people from KY and Dickenson County coming to town to get their "spirits" from the ABC store. Other than the locals, that is the ONLY reason anyone would ever go to Haysi. Oh...and the PINK ROOM! People would just drop other people off to make a purchase and then roll through the town and pick them up on the way back out.
It is impossible to find any parking at all and there is no way of expanding without carving the area of mountain out behind the town hall. You will never get any businesses at all down there unless there is room to move! There is only one place worse than Haysi and that is Pound. Now that is a dirty, filthy town.
Start over and rebuild like Grundy or maybe a good flood will take care of the problem for us!

The only thing that will save hayi is to promote sex, this is one thing about every one seems to be interested in, amen.

Fuller store (Hummmmmmm do they sell shoes)
Post Office (third of the month booming)
Pizza factory (My fav.place)
Uncle bub (I guess)
Belcher Inc. (we all need Inc.)
old Haysi hardware (look for some one torent or buy)
Dollar store (The Wal_Mart of Haysi do they sell shoes)
Pizza Plus (good place to eat if you like to watch the boys work there spit skoal in a cup)
New People (now that the place to be they got lots of ol dirty money there every one handles)
Edwards food center( nice place)
Car washes ( to sorry to wash my car)
Farm store (you better have a load of money to go i n there)
BB_T bank (Snobs work there)
Diamond dog auto parts (What a joke they dont even have any parts to sell you but they have free coffee)
Valor Mart (They are every wherewhy not one in Haysi)
Funeral Home ( Noew thats a dead place to go)

So Haysi has real hope to be something cover it up and start over is it only hope

Wait..don't forget about the awesome fair they have. Great times are a comin'!

I think that you need to be a little more optimistic than what you seem to be. If you feel this way about Haysi, then why do you live there? I don't think that people like yourself should even be entitled to an opinion. Haysi is a great little town, and with some improvements, could be better and something to be proud of. The businesses that you have talked about do not deserve your opinion, nor do they want it. I wonder what you do with your spare time other than set in front of your computer and try to be a smart a$$. You have already said that you are too lazy to wash your vehicle and I don't really think that you have a clue about running your own business and how hard that is to make it. My guess from your ability, or should I say inablility, to make a literate comment and post it on this forum is that you are probably one of those lovely people that come out on the first and/or third of the month.

After being In Newberrys this weekend I thought that was the most run downed store around not only that and to purchase food there. Come on Please at least keep it clean and nice. That store has made money off people for years they least he could do it clean it up inside. Edwards has enough money use it to better the store. I wouldnt buy anything from there because of it being so dirty and runned down. Maybe start at that store and move forward.

I think the meeting went pretty well, I think there was close to 100 people there if not more than 100. the meeting was to let everyone know what has to be done to get grants to work on the town and to get people that wanted to head up the team to do everything.. everyone was very interested in what was being said.. The next meeting is going to be on Mon. Dec. 1st at 6:30pm hope to see more come out and support the town.
