types of painting

I am interested in doing a type of fabric painting, but I'm not even sure what it's called (that makes it difficult to find info LOL) the best way I can describe it is that it looks like watercolor paintings, but it's on fabric. The paint or maybe a dye is used, is very thin, like watercolor paints. Maybe it's similar to tie dye, but you use a brush paint your design. Anybody have any ideas on what this is called and what materials I need to get started?

Thank you

Thank you for your post to our Fabric Painting Forum.

The technique name you are looking for is Watercolor Fabric Painting or more commonly called a "wash" technique. It is accomplished with smooth, non-latex, dilute-able fabric paints that are high-quality. Cameo paints are high-tech, acrylic fabric paints that dilute with water beautifully.

See CameoPaints.com for more product info.

Also see the thread here on silk base color application.
