Obviously he had found me, but why wasn't he approaching me? Did he just want to unnerve me--not going to happen--or was there some other motive at work? Then, the surprising thing happened--I was over my mother's and she had a message for me. Apparently a Mr. Mal Kronos had called wanting to arrange a meeting.
"Who is he?" mom demanded. "Why did he try to reach you here?"
"Mom, I think he's someone I knew from college," I replied, lying because it sounded better than--"Oh, he's the one night stand who brought about my first death and threw me into a world of immortality and battles to the death." Moms can't stand hearing stuff like that.
"Sounds like the type of friends you attract," she sniffed, handing me the message. He wanted to meet me at St Anselm's church yard--a cemetery.
And holy ground.
How delightful! I thought. Whatever was I going to wear? A long coat and comfortable shoes came to mind--but heck, this was pretty much a friendly thing, wasn't it?
Red-lace slipdress, garter-belt, mmm. If you can't beat 'em, umm. Maybe I could. I couldn't sleep that night for anticipation.
