A roadside bomb killed a U.S. Marine in western Baghdad on Tuesday in one of two attacks that also wounded six coalition military personnel, the military said.
The attack that killed the Marine happened at about 10:30 a.m. near Abu Ghraib, the military said in statement. Two other coalition personnel were wounded in the attack that also damaged their vehicle.
About an hour later, another coalition convoy was attacked by a roadside bomb and small-arms fire in the Baghdad's Salaam area, wounding four soldiers.
The death took the number of U.S. military personnel to have died in Iraq to at least 2,270 since the since the Iraq war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count

BAGHDAD, Fed 15 (KUNA) — Two booby-trapped cars exploded Wednesday in southern and northern Baghdad, claiming the lives of four Iraqi policemen and injuring 11 others.
A security source told KUNA, a booby-trapped car exploded before noon today, targeting a police patrol car, north Baghdad, claiming the lives of four policemen and injuring four others.
The police said, the explosion led to the destruction of shops, homes and police cars.
Five minutes later another bomb exploded in southern Baghdad, targeting a police patrol car, resulting with the injury of five policemen and two officers.
The Iraqi police sealed off the two areas, as a bomb squad inspected the damage.
In another development, one Iraqi officer and two policemen were injured in the northern city of Kirkuk as their car was attacked.
Iraqi police source in Kirkuk told KUNA, the explosion which occurred near Al-Tahadi bridge, west Kirkuk, resulted in the injury of lieutenant Hameed Baraa and the two policemen Abdullah Mussa, Firat Raheem, who were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, an Iraqi-MNF patrol car was targeted by a sniper in the industrial area, leading to the injury of one Iraqi civilian. In another incident, gunmen assassinated a Ministry of Finance official last night in Mosul. Iraqi police in the area said terrorists opened fire on the Director of inspections in the northern Banking area, who died instantly. (end) mhg.sbr.
