Response to Wanting to chat to a PNG'n about culture

Hi Kristen,
hi mate.

PNG people are loath to come forward and offer information, unless you know them well.

You can find a fair bit about Motuan culture, by searching For the "Hiri Moale Voyages" or the "Kula Ring". The Kula Ring is fascinating. This so called, (by western standards) primitive people, had a "currency" that was both a collectible, and a currency. To put this into context, read the History of Currency.

You will find the language is very Polynesian. The women espe3ccially look very Polynesian. (They are beautiful) I imagine some of the waves of Polynesian migration across the pacific, didn't stop at NZ, but continued furthur west. he Great Barrier Reef, would have stopped them landing in OZ. As indeed it stopped everyone else. In fact, even an impeccable navigator like Captain Cook, nearly came to grief on it.

I should be able to point you to a couple of websites, but if you search for : Stori Bilong Tumbuna; you may find some legends. They are in Tokpisin, but I should be able to interpret them for you, if needed.

Regards......Kiobasda.
