The first-anti government rallies in Iran over the past 30 years are an expression of lack of trust in the authorities, said participants of the discussion on the Crisis in Iran: Lessons for Armenia organized at the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS).

Armenia should learn a lesson from the events in Iran following the presidential elections, ACNIS Director Richard Giragosian said. According to him, although more than a year has passed after the events of March 1, the political crisis in our country has not been fully overcome.

Drawing a parallel between March 1 and the events in Iran, he said the political dialogue was the only way out. Like the majority of Armenians, the majority of Iranians are concerned about the country and the society their children are going to grow up in. Unfortunately, the crisis still remains unsolved in Armenia and the authorities have not begged pardon yet. To tell the truth, constructive dialogue is the only way for reaching accord in our country, Richard Giragosian said.

ACNIS expert Manvel Sargsyan considers that the political crisis in Iran can become the beginning of changes in the country. I think this is a beginning, because no matter how peculiar the country is, the protest of so many people should prove that there is a crisis of trust, he said.

This religious country raises the issue of changing the religious leader, and this means we may witness very interesting developments, Manvel Sargsyan noted.
