Author Giles Milton shares his insight and research into the compelling true story of the burning of the port city of Smyrna by Turkish forces and the mass murder and exodus of its Greek and Armenian inhabitants.
Milton draws on eyewitness accounts to render these events in all their horror, and ends with an almost incredible rescue led by an unlikely hero.
