Community meeting and discussion with -

Lilit Galstian, PhD

Member of Parliament in the Republic of Armenia and President of the Hamazkayin Foundation in Armenia

Galstian will discuss Armenia's current cultural and educational climate and condition, Hamazkayin's role and contribution in Armenia, and her experience as a parliamentarian.

Meeting & discussion will be conducted primarily in Armenian.

Dr. Lilit Galstian serves in the National Assembly of Armenia (parliament), as a member of its Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports. Since 2005, she has also been the president of the Hamazkayin Cultural and Educational Association in Armenia. She is also a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and played a leadership role the party's activities related to its participation in Armenia's recent national elections.


Born and raised in Yerevan, Galstian has authored many articles on cultural and educational issues and has translated numerous books of American literature. She holds a doctorate in Philology, a Masters in Philology and Armenian Language and Literature from Yerevan State University, as well as a Masters in Political Science and International Relations from the American University of Armenia. Prior to her service in the National Assembly, Galstian worked in the Ministry of Education and Science, and served for more than 15 years as the executive secretary of Hamazkayin's central executive body's Yerevan office.
