seventeen year war in nagorno-karabakh going peaceful?
We in the United States often feel so isolated from conflicts such as the one between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, a region that is populated with Armenians and went into dispute after the breakup of the Soviet Union.
Think how it must have been for the people of this region? Thousands of people lost their homes and refugees fled. Many have died.
The good news is that both Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to working towards a peaceful settlement.
You can see RT's report here.
I find it interesting that a google news search that shows the first 100 stories on this includes only one from a United States source. But I do not find this surprising.
We, in this country are too isolated from any news that the corporate media does not feed us as national-security related. Certainly a peace proposal negotiated with the help of President Dmitri Medvedev does not fit the American propaganda mold.
It is time we woke up and realized that all human suffering needs our (nonmilitary) attention.
