Before entering into detailed descriptions of the very cunning turkish approach, rather Great Turkey's diplomatic "chess-like moves" onto the international political scene as regards their continued denials of the enormous Crime committed, I would like to set the record straight, thus.
It is nothing new , that a few intellectuals/historians(some of whom under cover of as such,actually diplomats) come to openly address and accept the fact of the Armenocide by their previous government(s) and also thus doing give thread to non-Turkish, but pro turkish persons to take advantage of the ongoing "rapprochement" so to speak by the present turkish government to by and by soften-up ,firstly,international public opinion as to what really transpired then - from 1915 to 1923- on Armenian ancestral lands ,preparing the ground for more such apologies,gradually with higher tones-NOT AT ONCE- a strategy that only the Turkish mindset can devise , articulate and stage on Int'l scene.
For my memory is not short, thanks God. For several years ago, probably six to nine a few such Turkish "intellectuals" physically came to apologize the Armenian nation at Tzigtzernagabert-monument to the Armenian Genocide, near Yerevan, Armenia.Armenian press archives can testify to that. Thence this is the slow but continuing process of the "softening -up" ,albeit lately with such occurring a bit more and shorter intervals.Which indeed can be attributed to Great Turkey's burning desire to join the EU. It could NOT be enacted with such tactful approaches by any other nation's diplomacy. For they know at the very least, through this modality they can later come back and declare that it was the work of the previous TURKISH government(s) , not the present one -now I refer to a hypothetic change of toppling this Government, replacing it with another so called democratic one- that prevented official Acknowledgment of it.
As regards the repeated many a times over justification, that even some of these historians mix with half truths or made up lies-that is those who are under threat of the present fascist regime,suffice it to say ,all these can be easily put aside ad washed down the drain, such as:-
1.There was also rampant diseases..... causing the deaths(oh yes? but what was the cause of these, pray tell)VERY SIMPLE DEATH MARCHERS RAN OUT OF FOOD ATE WHATEVER THEY COULD GET THEIR HANDS ON AND USED CONTAMINATED WATER ETC.
2.Armenians also massacred turks. With what ? their bare skinny dried up hands(the very old men and women-the young having been exterminated in work camps) as against turkish "Yataghans/rifles etc.,)
3.Armenians allied themselves with Russians, our enemy and stabbed us on the back. Oh yeah? Few , very few Armenian resistance groups were formed -(I wish there were a thousands AND THOUSANDS- fold more formed thus tat could have prevented the large scale massacres, but alas that was not the case, they could neither smuggle over more that a few dozen rifles and other weapons over to Western Armenia via frontiers, closed, nor had the means to make arms under harsh rule.The were not even allowed to carry paper cutting"Zmeli)pocket knives. It could have prevented the Turkish onslaught. Waht is more,
It is the right of any people on ancestral land to defend itself and DRIVE OUT THE ENEMY.
Like(very few here probably online know) that another nation shared our fate thousands of miles away . Spain, that was overrun and ruled for near that many centuries, i.e., 600 years or so by North African Khaliphates.Then a spanish princess united the Spanish princes holding secret meetings and got armed and drove the occupiers out. However, the similitude ends and changes here , when we compare what and how these Arab origin tribes did while there on occupied soil. They built and left behind marvels, that can be seen now too-in contrast to turkish TOTAL DESTRUCTION OF ARMENIAN MONASTERIES/CHURCHES ETC. Therefore the non-turkish contemporary historians and/or journalists and diplomats ought to have above facts in mind when trying to sooth Armenians as to present day Turklish moves, shall we say to rapprochment? What am i saying just a few years ago their kin -the Azerbaijanis, destroyed thousands of Armenian Khatkars -stone cross, hand carved on Armenian land cemeteries-Nakhijevan m, which Stalin bestowed upon the Azeris, an old Armenian provice.Armenians applied to International instances, regretfullu , AFTER THE DESWTRUCTION, while they could have according to a compatriot now in Yerevan, LEFT THE ONGOING NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE AID OF THE SO CALLED PEACE MAKING OSCE MINSK GROUP...latter ought to visit Ankara and first try to solve above MAIN ISSUE WE ARMENIANS HAVE WITH GREAT TURKEY, THEN COME AND PLAY AROUND ARTSAKH-NAGORNIYI KARABAGH THAT WAS IS , HAS BEEN CENTURIES ARMENIAN LAD.LUCKILY THE ARMENIANS THEREAT COULD NOT BE REMOVED -MUCH AS THEY TRIED BY THE AZERIS, THEY CLUNG T THEIR LAND 85% OR MORE POPULATING IT THS it is and independent republic AFTER AGING A FIERCE WAS AGAIST THE INVADER AZERIS IN 1990'S...
I ASK OF THESE LATTER DAY FOREIGN DIPLOMATS/JOURNALISTS TO wake up to realities and not try to tackle these issues one-sided.
For believe me no FORCE CAN -LIKE SAROYAN HAS SAID- ELIMINATE US FROM THE FACE OF THIS EARTH PLANET.
