Act Now: Urge Assembly Consideration of "Justice for Genocide Victims" Bill
Time is running out.
In a few hours, California State Assembly Appropriations Committee Chairman Kevin de Leon will be announcing whether Assembly Bill 961 - the "Justice for Genocide Victims Bill" -- will be taken off the "suspense" calendar and allowed a full Assembly vote.
Assembly Bill 961, introduced by CA Assembly Assistant Majority Leader Paul Krekorian (D-Glendale/Burbank/Los Angeles), would prevent companies that do business with genocidal regimes and wrongfully withhold the assets of its victims from securing contracts with the state of California. The Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, the Cambodian Genocide, the Rwandan Genocide and the genocide in Bosnia are specifically referenced in the bill.
