Tehran Times Sports Desk
TEHRAN - Teams participating in the World Cadets Judo Championships will hold one minute silence in memory of the Iranian youth judokas killed in a plane crash.
The Caspian Airlines aircraft carrying 168 passengers was traveling from Tehran to Yerevan in Armenia when it came down at 11:33am in Qazvin, northwestern Iran, on Wednesday. Ten members of Irans Junior Judo squad -- eight athletes and two coaches -- were among the passengers of the plane.
President of the International Judo Federation (IJF) pointed out that the participants in the international competitions in Hungary in August will hold one minute silence to commemorate the victims of the crash.
The crash is a catastrophic incident for international judo. I express my condolences to their families and the Iranian Judo Federation, Marius Vizer said.
I will soon travel to Iran to sympathize with the bereaved families, he added
