Jesus said "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63). That's as true today as it was when Jesus said it to His disciples of old. And it's also just as true of the fresh, new words He speaks to His children and followers today as it is of His words that we read in the Bible.
Jesus speaks today? Yes! He is "the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). He will speak to anyone who believes in Him, sincerely asks Him to, and then accepts by faith that what they "hear" in their heart are truly His words. This is known as "the gift of prophecy."
