Millions of peasants were starving. Children were turned against adults as they were recruited to expose people accused of hoarding grain. Stalin sealed the border between Russia and Ukraine to ensure that news of the famine would not spread, but one journalist was able to break through to discover the truth.

Gareth Jones, who revealed the story of the forced famine that claimed the lives of four million people in Ukraine in the 1930s, recorded the words of Stalins victims in his diaries, which he then used to prepare his dispatch.

The public can see the diaries for the first time today as they go on display at the University of Cambridge...

.............get over the hobby of Stalin-bashing? The Stalin era was the Golden Age of humanity. Armenians and Azeris got along. Cradle to grave prosperity was the rule. Jobs and education guaranteed throughout the Eastern Bloc. Did Stalin make mistakes? YES! He indeed WAS human. But there WAS a cold war going on and NOBODY told the truth about anybody else. Nor about Stalin. Give this Great Man the credit that is due to him and let him rest in peace. I am old enough to know and remember.

Apparently you do not know nothig about Human Rights and Dignity and Freedom. Stalin whom you call him great regarded others not as humans but as animals. His empire was his zoo; he did to his pet animals whatever he liked. He starved many, fed some, took good care of some, tortured & killed many, send some to Siberia prisons.
