..that was my impression after watching a 9.59 minutes video entitled "My visit to Azerbaijan" made in 2008. Here is the link to the video:
The country looks bleak and people very lazy and drained of energy. When those lands were Christian, historical research shows that it was a beautiful place with wonderful people living there, but when they were islamised by Arabs and then the tartars came from the north and Turks from south, that land submerged into a darkness from which it never recovered up to the present. When I heard in the air and newspapers declarations, opinions, and strange attitude and behavior of Azerbaijanis I was puzzled but not anymore after watching this video. There is no way that Armenians can come to accord and to terms with Azeris in their present condition, first its people and land should be enlightened a bit and raised from the darkness that they are in presently, after that both can sit at the same table and talk.
They are getting billions from their oil and gas revenues but its people are getting poorer monetarily, and their minds is getting darker like the blackness of oil.
