I haven't tried that Bish's Tear Mender glue Rick. I looked at the MSDS sheet and it's just a natural latex base. It's called a fabric and leather glue. I'll order some to test based on your results.
We wouldn't recommend hot glue for holding latex, it peels off with little effort and softens in the heat. We use some hot glue on feathers but it's a high temp glue, not a craft style. It requires industrial guns to melt.
The BEST glue that I can recommend for holding latex to latex or latex to fabric is a solvent based contact cement. Hardware stores sell it in small tubes, one brand is Barge Cement. Shoe repair stores use it to hold soles onto shoes, so it's tough. The solvent bites into the latex surface and really holds well. Water based products never work too well so I'm surprised Ricks results were good.
We've been looking for a good waterbased glue to test, so Bish's is on my list. Thanks!
