OK, I do not know if it is because most of you are Ventriloquists, doing ventriloquism with a little magic mixed in or what, but I must say that I do not have negative experiences doing Birthday shows.
About the worst thing for me is when I'm asked to do a Birthday show outside.
But for that matter, I'm sometimes asked to do a non-Birthday show outside.
My birthday shows begin with Taco, my Hands Free Vent puppet being covered at all times while I'm setting up, and waiting for the show to begin.
Once the show begins, and I uncover Taco, and we begin our 20 minute routine, He usually gets everyone's undivided attention.
Being retired from my Post office job of 37 years, I have a pretty good income coming in, plus my kids are all grown up, and it's just my wife and I, and I have a lot of time off anyway. Plus 2 of my Grand-daughters help me doing the Birthday shows which are usually on the weekend. This gives me a chance to really get close to them.
I'll take a Birthday Show any day. Lastly, I never made the kind of money I make doing a Birthday show, in my entire life, and I'm having fun doing it.
