How do I make a rolling vinyl banner ?

July 27 2007 at 8:40 PM

In one of the workshops the teacher talked about a rolling vinyl banner for a stage sign. can anyone tell me about it. How do I make one and what do they look like?

Does anyone have an e-mail for Al Moessinger?

Banners

You can design a banner with Microsoft Publisher (or whatever program you have for designing on your computer). Then you put that file on a CD and take it to one of the following:
Kinko's
Staples
Office Max
Costco (they do letter signs, but not your graphics)
Sam's Club
or one of the Fast Sign type places. They all do banners. Tell them exactly what you want it for. In fact, if you haven't designed anything before you may just want to pay them to design it. Bring a good quality picture so they can blow it up large and it will not look grainy.

Steve Axtell if you're reading this, we'd love to have some clip art made available in both color and black and white of your puppets. Then we could add it to our newsletters, etc. Something to consider. I'd love to have a giant backdrop with the kangaroo, bear, and others in a cartoony format.

See..if I had asked that question I would have got a response which dealt with a car riding Ban the Bushwhacker armed with plastique. Tony, that borders on favouritism for Yankee clowns.Ron

Rolling up vinyl

Now, Ron. If you had asked that question I would have simply told you to place the banner flat on the floor and then begin rolling from one end! It took me awhile to respond because I had to look up "favouritism". It wasn't in Webster's so I had to go to an olde English dictionary to find it. I have nothing against Canadians. I think Michael J. Fox is fantastic.

Thank you for the fan worship of Michael Initial Fox. See..his middle name is Andrew. He changed it, however knowing somewhere some Californian vent would gush..Michael..a..fox! Yet tonight Michael J.is probably heartened that Tony (almost a Canadjun) would see the other Canadian twist of Michael Eh? Fox . Good for north of the 49th Parallel but not so good in the Excited States. Ron

You guys are so helpful... Thanks again!

Hi guys,

Thank you again for all the info you share with me. I am trying to put to use the things I learned at ConVENTion to make my show more proffessional.
I am working on making a back drop ( very portable) or using a frame of a blow up queen sized bed... a worksop teacher talked about that. He said they were about $35. but the small twin fame and bed is about $40. Sooo I am thinking pvc pipping maybe. I havent found any plans on the net just one room divder for a gym. But that might work made smaller. It adds SO much more to a show. I already added the puppet introduction music. I love it, now I need that vinyl sign, and back drop. I desided to wait on my DVD and do it in a studio, maybe within the year. I talked with Mr Axtell about all that already so now I know what to expect. Thanks for all your help and I hope you dont get annoyed with all my questions.
