Axtell Seal

What do you think about a look-no look routine on the seal while balancing the ball on his nose exposing the magnet?

Will this be a problem to anyone?

Sealed, Signed and Delivered

I think the proper seal would be one with a wooden handle and for once buttons which would activate the batteries and move the lips of the seal. I believe the official Axtell seal should be a face which would combine a hatchet head(Ax) and a pair of lips(Tell).

I arose at 5:15 this morning..the snow drift at the garage door was waist high. It's the third time this week I have had to clear my long, country driveway by hand.
I think snow removal has froze my brain!

I'm sure going to enjoy when the osprey fly up from South America in April and begin building their nest on our Lake Sturgeon. The nest is a tripod of telephone poles we put through the ice about ten years ago. And the Canada geese should be back from Chesapeake Bay early in March. C'mon spring!. Ron

Seal of Approval

February 13 2008, 7:47 AM

Wanlu, are you talking about making it obvious that the ball is held on the nose with a magnet? I think this could be quite funny, as long as you were really excited and impressed that your seal could balance the ball on his nose. The seal would need to act as if he is pulling a fast one on you, and all the people in the audience are in on it. I use the seal all the time, and I don't see a problem with doing a routine like this. It all will just need to be really exaggerated and obvious (as with any routine, I suppose). Go for it!

Hey Robbie...thanks

I was worried about exposing the magnet gimmick...but I guess its okay since its not really a big secret right?

Get more sleep

February 13 2008, 8:22 AM

You need more sleep.
I also did yard work yesterday. The sun was shining (it's a big yellow thing we have down south this time of year), the flowers are beginning to bloom, and I wanted to get a headstart on a tan for the top of my head so I don't get sunburned later.

Wanlu,

I think you will be taking away the "how'd he do that?" factor by showing the magnet. You can try it and it will get some laughs, but it would be like doing a great magic trick and then saying, Here's how I did it.

I don't think the rest of us should care whether you expose the secret in the nose. That is your option as an entertainer. Of course, I don't have a seal puppet yet so it doesn't affect me. I wouldn't want anyone showing how the magic drawing board works.

try it

February 13 2008, 8:28 AM

Please try the routine the way Robbie suggested. It has potential for a lot of laughs and the laughs may be better than the "how's he do that?" factor. The ideal would be if you could have a magnet on the outside of his nose that you don't notice (it should stick) and eventually you see the secret. Then you remove the magnet and find that he can still do it.

W: Oh! I see how you're doing that! Boys and girls, he had a magnet taped to his nose! Now I'll take that off and he won't be able to do it anymore!

(Continue with the don't see bits as he balances the ball again, without the magnet.)

Nose balancing expose'

February 13 2008, 1:01 PM

It reminds me of the ping pong ball that a juggler or clown tosses up and catches on their nose and "balances" it until the applause. Then he takes a bow, and the ball stays on his nose until he removes it. He has double sided tape on his nose I think.

Always gets a laugh. This video shows the catch but doesn't show the reveal, but I've seen it done many times....

What an attractive nose you have!

Wanlu,

If you expose the gimmick, don't stop at the ball! After the ball, reward the seal with a FISH ON A FORK... look away as the METAL FORK sticks to the seals nose. When you finally see it, reach over and take the fork off it's nose and have your WRISTWATCH stuck to it's nose. Try to get your watch back with PLIERS and a WRENCH and have them all stuck to the nose.
Exit with the seal's nose full of metal objects.

Thanks

Thanks for all your ideas...although Im not really sure who's trying to help and who's trying to get me more confused

Im probably not doing it the right way...because when I did the ball balancing thing...the kids shouted "magnet!!!" so I exposed it with a look- no look routine...which I was not planning to, the first time I used the Seal.

Please give it to me straight this time...

Is the look-no look thing exposing the magnet a BAD IDEA?

Thanks

Wanlu

Magnet

February 13 2008, 7:29 PM

Hi,

When I say "expose the magnet" I dont mean showing them the magnet which is hidden under the seal's nose.

Exposing there's a magnet is basically done by showing them that the seal is not actually balancing the ball but its stuck to his nose...

Ill try it again this weekend without the look-no look routine and see if I can manipulate him like he's really balancing the ball...

Thank y'all

Wanlu

We nose what you mean!

Wanlu.... that's a comedy decision. If you do your balancing act really well by tossing it and moving him correctly...then pulling it off or having him throw it off....it will look like real balancing. Here is my video http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZdAlClah89I

If you don't nail it perfectly, the physics will not look correct and they can tell it's a magnet. So if that happens...go with it.... Let him look around with it stuck to his face. Then you can go further like Steve Petra suggested. Very funny!

Steve Petra also gets a hanky stuck to his face....

It's all entertainment! Let us see what you do!
